7 WONDERS OF THE WORLD

September took off with really beautiful weather here in the North East. Finally, since we have had a very wet summer! I had so much planned for the first two weeks. Spring cleaning my home & getting it ready for fall and the holidays. The yard, sending the last of the brood off to college. But most importantly, organizing and strategizing new game plans for my business. My business has finally taken off, and we are now seeing the fruits of our labor. So new games plans were to be incorporated and this was exciting. Plus the first of the next generation was getting married, we had planned for this all year, and we were really excited to let loose.

Then it happened. Excruciating, debilitating back pain.

The kind where you will do anything to stop the pain. This is a first for me. How did I do it? Who knows? Maybe it was dragging the 100 lb water soaked bag of potting soil across the yard? Could be. That with a combination of 50 years of walking on crooked feet. Anything could be. But I have been in bed for two weeks!

But the point I am trying to make is this. Never, never, never take anything for granted. Without our health, nothing matters. We work so hard so long, so many wait a minutes, putting off not only things but people until tomorrow. I think this was a wake up call for me, especially after two weeks of being flat out in bed, doctors and therapy. I know the pain will pass. But what I realized is. so will life.

Enjoy each moment and really bask in the wonder of it all. Enjoy your work like it was play, enjoy that conversation, the smell of morning, the frenzy of the family in the morning. A business associate of mine Susan Sly author of "Have it all Woman" posted this story on one of her newsletters.

I think it speaks for itself.

Seven Wonders of the World
Author Unknown

Junior high school students in Chicago were studying the Seven Wonders of the World. At the end of the lesson, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids

2. The Taj Mahal in India

3. The Grand Canyon in Arizona

4. The Panama Canal

5. The Empire State Building

6. St. Peter's Basilica

7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The quiet girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many." The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help."The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven Wonders of the World are:

1. to touch...

2. to taste...

3. to see...

4. to hear... (She hesitated a little, and then added...)

5. to feel...

6. to laugh...

7. and to love.

The room was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop.

May this story serve as a gentle reminder to all of us that the things we overlook as simple and ordinary are often the most wonderful - and we don't have to travel anywhere special to experience them.
